Hello, my name is Rebecca Barra and I am a multi-media artist that creates art in a wide variety of mediums that reflect my soul and journey. My primary focus has been pareidolia wood art for the past 6 years.
My formative years in NY were filled with love and laughter. My mom and grandparents raised me under the same roof. My grandfather was an artist, professional antique restorer, and a huge inspiration. My current series Translating For Trees is a direct reflection of my life growing up surrounded by wood and the generations of wood working Sicilian ancestors pulsing through my veins.
Eventually I ended up living in a homeless shelter with my mom for 8 months during my senior year in high school. Living in the shelter was so life-changing that it inspired me to work at a homeless shelter for children for 9 years. I healed myself and countless youth with art, nature walks and an authentic, understanding heart.
Once again, I was forever changed when my mom tragically went missing in NY. Her body was found a year later, she was an amazing woman and a veteran with PTSD. I healed with art once again, which has inspired my dream to volunteer my Pareidolia art class to underprivileged groups, including kids, veterans and others. I want to become successful with my art so that I can volunteer my class frequently. This year, I am scheduled to volunteer this for a special art program to help kids at a High School in Denver. Currently also teaching this class (paid) at the Denver Art Society in Denver, and on Air BNB as an art class experience, click here for more details.
Since pursuing being a professional artist, I’ve had several gallery shows in New York and Denver and my work was published in a best-selling book. I painted hundreds of portraits on autographed baseballs for Steiner Sports and made custom portraits for celebrities. Currently selling my wearable wood clothing in stores and online. Canvas prints also available, click here. Now planting a tree with every purchase!
